I was thrilled when my girlfriend of many years asked me to photograph her children this year.  We used to hang out a lot when they lived in our neighborhood, but they’ve since moved away.  We do our best to see each other as often as life allows, but sadly it’s just not often enough!

These children are super kind and you can tell from the pictures how much they really love each other!

This session was held at their house and I loved incorporating their beautiful home into their photos.   There really is no place like home, especially this fabulous daybed on their screened in porch!

It was a perfect North Carolina fall day!  The weather was simply divine – we stayed outside for the rest of the session and found lots of gorgeous color!

Thank you mother nature for the breeze that so perfectly arrived for this image…

Braun Family | Wrightsville Beach Family Portrait Photography

It has been a summer of reconnecting.  Yet again I have to thank Facebook for connecting me with one of my closest friends from high school, with whom I lost touch with over the years, as people do.

Come to find out my friend travels to NC every summer for the beach, and when she contacted me to photograph her family I excitedly said YES!

.

She & her boys were real troopers – not only was it H O T outside, but they had driven over seven hours to get to the beach the same day of their session!

.

Sweet boys

.

I think this one is my favorite!

.

She seriously hasn’t changed (or aged for that matter) a bit!

.

A fun set-up …

Here’s the first attempt at the shot above … boys will be BOYS lol!

.

Play time!

.

They were pretty tired and somewhat over me, but I managed to get a few handsome smiles out of them 🙂

.

Thanks so much for sharing your precious family with me – can’t wait for next year!

Fun Family Reunion! | Raleigh Cary Atlantic Beach Family Photographer

.

I was so thrilled when my dear roommate from years gone past asked me to meet her & her family at the beach this summer for her family reunion!  Yes, this has been in the plans for over six months now , &  I hadn’t seen my friend in 18+ years!  (Ahh the wonders of Facebook!)

My family and I drove in on a Friday midday, to meet this family on the beach in the late afternoon.  As soon as we crossed the first waterway, I couldn’t help but notice the flags whipping in the wind.  Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the wind, but perhaps not as much when it is ‘whipping’!

We managed by utilizing lots of bobby pins and repositioning the long haired ladies so their hair wouldn’t be covering their faces!  A HUGE thank you to my unexpected and absolutely treasured assistant Jo for being my second set of eyes and hands.  Couldn’t have done it without you Jo!

.

Here are a few of my favorite images from that windy and wild afternoon on the beach:

Last weekend I had the pleasure to photograph this wonderful family! We have known each other for several years, as our girls went to preschool together.

We met on the NC State University campus, and had a ball walking around finding unique & interesting locations to photograph.  These kids were seriously so much fun – and so easy to work with!  They had some fun ideas, and there was no shortage of conversation.  What fantastic ages – and joyful spirits they all have!

Kudos to Mom for planning the session & realizing the importance of capturing this time in their lives 🙂

.

.

I believe the kids found this spot – framed them perfectly!

.

A Momma’s love  … nothing like it 🙂

.

How handsome is this guy? Watch out girls, he’s a Southern gentlemen too!

.

I adore his expression in this one.  We were waiting for the girls to change, hanging out and talking sports.

.

No shortage of bricks on this campus, and definitely no shortage of cuteness!

.

Kids are active!  I love shooting action!

.

Mom told me she loves texture, so that was one of my mental focal points during this shoot.

The NCSU  Wolf Ears – pretty pretty texture.

.

A couple more of little miss model!  Seriously, she needs to be in commercials.  A genuine spirit & so easy to work with.  Not to mention stunning beauty!

.

Coming up soon, select images from a recent beauty & boudoir photo shoot.

Have a great week!

The Quarles/Grogan Family | Raleigh Cary Family Portrait Photographer

.

When the fabulous Mom of this family scheduled this session last fall, I thought it was never going to get here!  But as usual, the time flew by quickly and I am glad it did.

My hats off to all of them – it was a muggy Sunday morning and there was no lack of sweat beads on my forehead as well as theirs.  But they kept on beaming those beautiful smiles at me – thanks you guys!

.

This one definitely makes me giggle every time!

.

Prepare for jaw dropping beauty here …

.

You may recognize this lovely gal from her senior portraits I took last summer :

A Morning with the Nikolichs | Greensboro Raleigh Family Portrait Photographer

.

Many moons ago, the Momma of this awesome family & I were roommates.

A little history : Just out of college we had placed an ad in the paper for a fourth roommate (yes, we were broke), and she answered.  We became fast & fabulous friends.  A few years later she moved to another state, and I think I have seen her once or twice in the past 20 or so  years!  You know how some people you can just pick up where you left off?  Well, she’s definitely one of those people.  I am SO excited they are back in NC, and she has a truly awesome family.  Handsome & kind as can be hubby, and two active & adorable boys.  Life is good!

She asked me if I’d travel her way to capture some moments of their day, and I happily obliged.  It was a super fun (and slightly exhausting – all that young energy !) morning.  I love those boys and can’t wait to spend more time with them this summer!

.

This is not a park, but their backyard!  What an amazing landscape we had to work with.

.

All of these pictures make me smile, but this one really gets me every time!

.

A perfect pair 🙂

.

I LOVE this one, how you can see the edge of her smiling face.

.

Sweet fun on Daddy’s shoulders 🙂

.

Snack time … oh those eyes!  I just had to pick up my camera and take this shot.

.

Time to play out front – they were excited to ride their bikes!

.

Ooops, someone ran over Mommy’s foot and got a time out … I couldn’t resist 🙂

.

Beautiful Momma and her boys – I think this pictures says it all!

.

One more place we wanted to visit, the neighborhood park just around the corner …

.

Hello little toes 🙂

.

The were pretty over pictures at this point, so I had them playing peek out from behind Mom & Dad for this shot!

.

Your gorgeous J & I love you!
